Fintan Whelan has been active in Renewables since he joined the newly formed Airtricity in 2000 as Corporate Finance Manager. In 2008, he co-founded Mainstream Renewable Power, along with ex Airtricity CEO Eddie O'Connor, focusing on development of SolarPV & onshore/offshore wind projects across a number of markets - US, Canada, Chile, South Africa, Ireland, UK and Germany.
Since leaving Mainstream in late 2014, Fintan has been active across the Sustainability Sector, focusing on the impacts of deepening penetration of variable renewables on electrical systems. He is mostly involved in business model development/execution and resulting fund raising.
* Senior Advisor, Amarenco Solar - working with Amarenco Solar on the expansion of their business into wind in Western Europe with the backing of M&G’s InfraCapital.
* Co-Founder & Director, Carbon Metrics – this company arranges specialist funding for multi-technology resource efficiency and renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial end-users. These solutions are delivered through Energy Consultants and involve medium-term genuinely no-money-down Energy Performance Contracts.
*Co-Founder & Non-Executive Director, Emerging Markets Power – this company is a wind & solar greenfield developer in joint venture with Vestas. The initial focus has been on Sub-Saharan Africa and now expanding into Asia and Iceland.
Fintan is a non-executive director at SolarPV specialist developer BNRG Renewables and is a regular speaker at industry conferences.
